my first blog!! hooray :p
at the current moment of writing this, i can't really be bothered to edit this and reorganize everything to look as it does on my main website; so i just decided to run with the deadlogs template that's given! it's a really good template and website, and i find that setting this up was the easiest. thank the gods for people who actually know how to use javascript and get these templates for the rest of us to use.
while i wish i could wait until i was actually proficient enough in javascript to make my own journal, at the current moment i'm really struggling with learning it. while css and html were relatively easy to learn and they sort of share some similarities here and there, javascript is an actual language that i feel like i've had to come back to every few months and repeatedly reread in order to get a grasp on.
admittedly, i'm a little worried about not being able to learn it, since css, html, and javascript are sort of the "trifecta" when it comes to coding static websites like neocities, and i think learning it would just be overall handy. i've wanted to do things like code bots or automated systems for awhile now anyways, so having that extra hand in javascript would be really great.
apart from that, setting up a proper website where everything is sort of "home" for me has always been a little tricky. while i understand people are able to update things over time, i feel as if i haven't been able to make something that really feels special for me in particular. never satisfied with the layout, don't like the aesthetic, think that something may be off—and so i wipe it off the face of the earth entirely.
it's a really bad habit of mine to operate like this, but i really hope that this last time around is the last time that i really "delete" anything. this website has existed since 2023, but has had sporadic activity since then. but i want to be able to have a space that's "mine" on the internet and a cute little thing for people who are meeting me to look at.
either way, i think i'm really excited to start this. hopefully i can come up with something that i actually really enjoy, and can come back to look on whenever i get bored or need to add something. a lot of people use their websites for different reasons, but i'm thinking about making one that has my journal (here), an art log, a place for my characters, and so on.
if i have anymore thoughts on this today i'll come to add more, but at the moment this is all that comes to mind.
